Now the Chinese are allowing the yuan to float freely it is surely going to bode ill for the U.S. dollar.  Gold has begun its inevitable creep,
I noticed inflation going up several months ago but according to the
people who  publish statistics on these things I was out of my mind.

They obviously have not been following the Smuckers Inflation indicator (SII). 18 months ago an 8 oz. jar of smuckers low fat
strawberry jam went from under $2.00 to $2.65. Now it is around $3.10 for the same jar.

The government is pushing ethanol as a gasoline substitute even though it cost more than gasoline to produce, adds to pollution,
and higher p[rices for food as farmers divert land to corn production.
Fertilizers are in high demand and costly. The runoff from fertiliers
ends up in streams, lakes and oceans.

The sun is abundant, new technology makes solar power a non polluting source of energy. Even if the oil problem was not a problem now, what about our children, and grandchildren?

We need to transform away from oil as a primary source for energy but we have no leadership to make it a priority.  More money is being spent to elect a president but there isn't one leader who is interested in anything but getting into office and making sure it's business as usual.
There will be no insurance reform, no energy reform, and no reform of the suede shoe boys who get paid to pay the legislature to make sure thier point of view is the one that America listens to and follows. Oil, insurance companies, bankers and big business have the largest share of the pie.
